Transition to Secondary School Information

Grade 6 into Year 7 is a very exciting time for students and their families. At Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½Ò•îl, we follow the Department of Education and Training state-wide transition program.

Most of the early transition for Year 6 to 7 is handled by your primary school.  Your primary school will distribute forms to families in early Term 2. This important documentation is where parents will select their secondary school of choice.

We encourage families to discuss any queries they may have with the transition process with their Grade 6 teacher or primary school transition co-ordinator.

The college holds an Open Night late Term 1 and numerous college tours throughout the year (conducted by our Principal and Transition teams), we hope families will be as informed as possible about our college and what we can offer for every student. Information regarding the booking of these can be found on the homepage of this website.

We encourage families to attend our college tours to see how our college operates on a normal school day. We also encourage families to bring along their children so they can see what school life is like at Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½Ò•îl.

We request that all families applying outside to attach to their application a letter addressed to our principal team, stating the reasons why you would like to attend our college for Year 7. To check if you are within our school zone, please visit the following link:

Specialist program applications for Year 7 in 2026 will not open until Term 3 and will only be accessible to students who have been accepted into the college as a student for 2026. Families will find out through their primary school what secondary school they have been allocated in late Term 2, please check with your primary school surrounding this date.

Important dates to remember are posted to this page in Term 3 once families are aware of their allocated secondary school. The dates and information above are subject to change and we encourage families to regularly check our website and Facebook page for the most up to date information.

For information regarding the four Specialist Programs offered at Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½Ò•îl in Year 7-9 please visit Middle School Specialist Programs.
